Pirate!EnglandXReader: The fisherman’s daughter. Ch. 2

Chapter two: the storm

Rain. Lots and lots of rain. It was falling down on the roof of your house, keeping you awake. You turned around and sighed. Somehow, it was impossible to fall asleep. For you, that is. Your parents were asleep, your father even snoring like his life depended on it. You sighed again and stared at the roof. After a while, your eyes slowly closed and you finally fell asleep.

‘_____!’ Wake up!’ your father called after what felt like five minutes.

‘But dad...’

‘Hurry up!’ he said. ‘The fish won’t wait!’

‘I know, I know,’ you mumbled, getting out of your bed. At that point, you noticed something. Rain. It was still raining.

‘Dad...?’ you asked hesitantly while looking up to your father. ‘Are you sure you want to go outside?’

‘Of course,’ he said, tilting his head slightly. ‘It’s just a bit of rain. No fish, no food. Remember?’

‘Yeah, sure...’ you mumbled, grabbing your clothing to get dressed. ‘But I hate rain...’

(~ Timeskip, veee! ~)

You ran after your father, who had already disappeared into the rain. The moment you stepped outside the house, you were soaked. Literally soaked. You wept some water off your face and chased your father to the harbor.

‘Hurry up!’ he called, glaring over his shoulder.

‘Shut up,’ you mumbled, catching up on him.

‘Ready?’ he asked, jumping inside the boat.

‘I was born ready,’ you grinned, untying the Diamond. ‘Let’s go.’

You jumped inside the boat and your father hoisted the sails and the Diamond set off again. The wind was pulling the ship forwards, closer to the horizon. Your father let down the sails after a while, pointing at the nets. You thought he was absolutely out of his mind. This was way too dangerous!

‘It’s just a bit of rain!’ your father called as he saw your scared face. ‘Nothing to worry about!’

You nodded and helped him with the nets. As they slid into the water, you sat down and pulled your knees up to your chest and wrapped your arms around them. You were freezing and tired. But falling asleep was impossible, due to the fact the rain was still falling down on your body. After a while, you laid down on the floor of the boat, trying to stay warm.

‘_____?’ your father said after a hour or two. ‘Let’s get the nets inside, let’s go home...’

‘F-finally.’ You weren’t even able to speak properly anymore.

Your father handed you your gloves and your knife again. You put your knife into your right boot and grabbed the nets. But the nets slipped out of your hands, making you stumble backwards.

‘Ouch!’ you grunted as your body slammed into the edge of the boat.

‘Are you okay?’ your father asked, looking at you with concern.

‘Y-yeah...’ you mumbled, but the sea disagreed. The waves suddenly pulled up the boat and made it tilt. You tried to get hold of the boat, but your hands were too wet; you fell down into the merciless sea. Cold, dark water surrounded you now, pulling you down and not wanting to let you go.

‘D-dad!’ you screamed, putting your hands up. ‘Dad!’

‘_____!’ your father called, leaning over to grab your hands. But it was no use. The sea pushed the Diamond away from you. Cold darkness was now surrounding you and you were terrified. Was this the way you were going to die? You desperately tried to get back to the boat, but it was no use. The sea kept dragging you down and the more you tried to survive, the more the sea seemed to pull you down. The water filled your lungs and they felt like they were going to explode. You gasped for air, but there was only water. Black spots disappeared in your vision, making you dizzy. You were lost. At least, until your head bumped into something solid. One of your hands shot up, your heart filled with hope. A ship!

‘H-help!’ you screamed before the sea dragged you down again. ‘Help me!’

A person was standing at the railing of the ship and called something when he saw you. You looked up to him desperately, begging him to rescue you. He tied something around his waist and climbed over the railing. He slowly got down and offered you his hand.

‘Grab my hand!’ he yelled, which you did. He pulled you up and swung you over his shoulder. He climbed up again, pushing you over the railing. You fell down onto the deck and coughed. You got rid of all the water in your lungs and looked up at your saviour. You couldn’t really see him, but you mumbled a tired “thank you”.

‘You’re welcome love,’ a British man replied. ‘Come on, let’s go inside now.’

He picked you up again and went inside. You didn’t really notice it, because you were already asleep. A soft smile appeared on his face as he looked down at your sleeping form before leaving you. You were laying in his bed, but that was alright, he had to guard the ship tonight. He chuckled as he went back to the deck of his ship; you’d be a perfect maid.

(~ Timeskip, veee! ~)

‘I know, I know,’ you mumbled, rolling out of your bed. ‘The fish won’t wait.’

Sighing, you opened your eyes, only to realise this wasn’t your house. Second thing you realised was that the person looking at you wasn’t your father.

‘Oh,’ you said, remembering what had happened. ‘S-sorry.’

‘That’s fine,’ the man said.

You examined the man. He had green eyes and blonde hair. And his eyebrows were... well... enormous. He was wearing a weird hat.

‘My name is captain Arthur Kirkland,’ he said. ‘Welcome on my ship.’

‘I am _____ _______,’ you mumbled, shaking his outstretched hand. ‘Nice to meet you.’

‘Nice to meet you too, love,’ he said before walking towards the door.

‘Wait! Don’t leave me!’ you called as he opened the door.

‘I wasn’t going to leave you,’ he said. ‘I was going to take you to the kitchen. I figured you’d like something to eat.’

‘Y-yeah...’ you mumbled, getting up and following him. ‘What time is it?’

‘Somewhere around 9 o’clock,’ Arthur answered. ‘There we are. The kitchen.’

The kitchen turned out to be in the same room as the dining room, because a large table was standing in the middle of the room. Some white haired guy was sleeping with his head on the table while clutching an empty mug in his left hand.

‘Beilschmidt!’ Arthur screamed. ‘You bloody wanker, get your lazy ass moving!’

The guy’s head shot up and he looked around like somebody just told him the ship was on fire. He then spotted his captain, and, most importantly, he spotted you.

‘Who’s she?’ he asked.

‘She’s none of your business,’ Arthur said, a dangerous glint appearing in his green eyes. ‘Now get out.’

The white haired man left the room, mumbling something about his “awesomeness” and you looked around the room. It wasn’t very well decorated, but it served its purpose.

‘Bonnefoy?’ captain Kirkland called. A blonde man appeared in the doorway, looking grumpy as he saw his captain.

‘What?’ he asked.

‘Prepare some food for the girl,’ Arthur said.

‘A mademoiselle, you say?’ the man named Bonnefoy said and a grin appeared on his face. ‘Of course I will prepare something to eat for a lady.’

‘No funny business, frogface,’ Arthur said, sitting down at the table. ‘I will stay here to make sure you behave.’

You were somehow grateful that Arthur didn’t leave you with the man named Bonnefoy, because his grin was creeping you out. So you sat down next to the captain and waited for your meal to be served.

‘So...’ you said, looking at the captain. ‘And how is the life of a merchant? Do you visit many countries?’

Kirkland and Bonnefoy started to laugh.

‘What did I do?’ you asked, not knowing what you possibly could’ve done wrong.

That only made them laugh more.

‘Love, do you really think we’re merchants?’ Arthur hiccuped.

‘Well, yeah...’

‘Wrong,’ Arthur ginned. ‘We’re pirates.’

Your eyes widened as you understood what he was saying. Oh dear. Now that you were rescued out of the merciless sea, you had fallen into the hands of a dangerous group of pirates. You stared at the captain. A mischievous smile had appeared on his face and he chuckled again.

‘Oh,’ you said sheepishly. ‘A-ah. Okay. When can I go home?’

‘Home? This is your home now,’ Kirkland answered.

‘But ... but I’ve got to -’

‘I don’t care. We need a maid, and you turned up just in time.’ Kirkland got up from his seat and walked over to the window. ‘Besides, we can’t just go to the harbor and let you go. You joined the crew at the moment you touched the ship.’

No way you were going to stay here. No darn way. Your hand slid down into your right boot, where you had put your knife. A sly smile appeared on your face as you felt the cold steel and you slowly pulled out the weapon. You got up and walked over to the captain. He froze as he felt the tip of your knife through his clothing.

‘I want to go home,’ you hissed. ‘You will let me go home.’

‘I don’t think so, darling,’ Arthur said. He quickly turned around and grabbed your wrist. You didn’t expect him to move and you winced as you felt his tight grip around your wrist. For a moment, you had forgotten that you were dealing with dangerous pirates now. You just wanted to go home, back to your father and his silly boat. You were prepared to become the fisherwoman for the rest of your life, only to get away from this ship. But of course, luck wasn’t on your side.

‘You aren’t going anywhere.’ Arthur bowed forward and whispered into your ear. ‘We need a maid. You will be our maid. Understood?’

You didn’t answer, you just huffed and nodded. Fine, he could have it his way. At the slightest hint of a chance, you’d escape. Arthur let you go and pushed you back to the table, where a plate of food was awaiting you. Bonnefoy was standing in the doorway, leaning against the wood. He was grinning at you and his captain.

‘Get used to it, mademoiselle,’ he chuckled. ‘Welcome to the crew.’
Uh-oh. Turned out Timmy was right; de ship did belong to pirates! ;p
